Default more baloney from Trump gas prices

“The president doesn't have to lie about gas prices, but he apparently can't help himself. … In fact, in recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly claimed, in a variety of settings, that consumers in unnamed states are paying $1.98 per gallon,” citing Trump’s recent appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” where the president told host Kristen Welker that gasoline prices are below “$2 a gallon. $1.98, $1.99, $1.97. ... I have it down to $1.98 in many states right now.”

“None of this was even close to being true,” , according to AAA’s price tracker, which puts the national average price for gasoline at $3.18 per gallon.

“Literally zero states have prices below $2.60 per gallon. What’s more, when White House officials have been pressed for evidence to substantiate the president’s claims, they’ve offered nothing.”

... $3.28 for a gallion of petrol-gas here in PA.
But PA has HIGH gas-tax... Some 35c - so without that
prices would be below $3.00.

But you’re NOT paying 3 bucks, are you?

By your calculation, without your truck, you’d be paying ZERO.

Silliness-abounds.

Actually if he was looking at whole price for gas Trump is probably right. If you national, state, and local taxes to gas prices you could 50 cents a gallon to 75 cents a gallon to prices.

Yes, I'm looking at a chart of the front month NYMEX gasoline futures contract, which should be pretty close to the spot price at the delivery point. The closing price was below $2.00 a gallon on 4/11/2025, 4/10/2025, 4/08/2025, 2/28/2025, 2/27/2025, 2/26/2025, and 2/25/2025.

Trump is not correct. Futures contracts are not the price of gas at the gas station. Good grief.

AAA survey is the best source for retail gas prices.

The point is.......Trump has been caught lying again.

The real bottom line is Trump continues to lie and make up facts.
