I think we all have one. A no contract, throw-away cell phone for our hobby related calls.

I an looking for some help. Do any of you know of a no contract cell phone, that will work both in the U.S.A., and in Canada?

Or am I wasting my time looking for this?

I love virgin mobile, always have great service and they have great all voice + data plans inclusive plans.

I second Jon! Trac Fone actually surprised me about how decent it is...at least in CNY. Buy the 450/1yr card...initial startup doubles minutes and 200 bonus minutes gave me a total of 14 months and 1020 minutes before I have to "add" more time and minutes. The phone is not bad either - LG

I use Virgin Mobile, but it doesn't work in Canada. I can get service up to the corner of Main and Ferry (Lundy's Lane) in the Falls. The problem is that no contract phones can't roam. If you find one that can, let me know. I have an old AT&T phone that I unlocked and put a Rogers Sim card in that I use for Canada in case of a hobby emergency.

I use a Verizon prepaid phone that works well in both Canada and the US.
Costs allot more to use in Canada though.

Try Google voice......its free. And you do not have to buy a phone. :-)

I tried google voice but my phone only had free local calling and the access number was long distance, ended up with a big bill. Does it work with a standard cell phone or only with a smart phone ?

it is not something you can hold in reference to your use of the term "these". It is basically a free service and on smart phones is an app.
