corwin amendment

didn't know congress passed it in 1861. only 5 states ratified it. it was last ditch means to avoid the secession crisis.

it supposedly protected the slavery institution. it prohibited congress from outlawing slavery by law or by amendment.

talk about wow! i am skeptical of the latter interpretation if it was fully ratified.
