House Minority Leader McCarthy defends free speech from Democrat censorship

OAN Newsroom
UPDATED 11:36 AM PT – Wednesday, February 24, 2021
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy doubled down on his efforts to defend Americans’ right to free speech. While speaking on the House floor Wednesday, he called out the Democrat push to censor conservative voices.
The Republican lawmaker went on to suggest they are the real threat to Americans’ First Amendment rights. McCarthy compared Democrats to the Chinese communist regime, which silences speech they disagree with.
McCarthy went on to criticize the Democrats for attempting to bring the socialist agenda to the U.S. He said these standards have no place in America.
“Democrats’ action this week makes it clear that the greatest threat to free speech today is not a law from Congress, which is bound by the First Amendment,” stated the minority leader. “The greatest threat is politicians who bully private companies to silence dissenting views.”
McCarthy also cited the mainstream media’s coverage over the last four years and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s public disdain for President Trump during his time in office.

LM - You can produce some valuable insight into the DPST position on issues.
Your contributions are almost invariably overshadowed by prevalent name-calling, insults, arrogance, elitism, and entitled statements about what other posters 'know'.
What of value to the Forum does that behavior bring - behavior which alienates other posters you attack for holding a different opinion????
None - no value whatsoever.
Please change your behavior on this forum!

Obbie your contributions in this forum contain nothing but lies, insults, skewed information, hypocrisy, and negativety.
What value does that bring? NONE.
Repeating yourself does not win you arguments either. Just ask IB.

Thank you Obbie!! That honestly made my morning.

Care to back that up with facts? What exactly are Conservatives trying to keep Liberals from saying? Name a Conservative that is promoting taking MSNBC off the air? It isn't Tucker Carlson or Shaun Hannity.
Name a Conservative trying to stifle any speech on college campuses or in any workplace?
Conservatives don't try and stifle free speech, they debate the issue.
Sorry, but the stifling of free speech belongs solely to the Democrat party and denying it doesn't make it untrue.
But I'll play, give us an example of any Conservative calling for anybody from the left, having their speech curtailed on social media?

Not to be a "whataboutist" about it, but regretfully all sides seem to have a problem with that.
And do please forgive my asking LM, as I'm not terribly familiar with your body of work, but with your avatar being the union jack, I'm wondering if you're expatriated Brit, or just simply a fan. If the former, there's a fair bit of irony in your criticizing anyone's idea of freedom of speech.

I can give your ass one big example. Your lord and savior Trump sending in militarized police to try and silence BLM demonstrators. Try and defend that all you want to but you will be wrong and a blatant hypocrite
