How to make a guy's day

A lady friend-for-an-hour of mine PMed me and asked whether I'd like to get together sometime this week. That's the first time in 15 years of hobbying that I can recall something like that happening.

Unfortunately, I won't have the opportunity. But she made my day. Not only that, she guaranteed who I'll call first when an opportunity arises, not only next time, but for my next several times.

I know it's business, but I doubt she's lacking for clients. And even when it's just business, it's nice to be able to think that your business is appreciated.

I guess a judgement call. I agree with you ... but ... it depends on who the sender is. Is it someone I've seen ... maybe a couple of times? A session with a particularly good personal rapport? When those are present, I considering all the things you said, flattering, encouraging ... an enticing invitation to fun.

The "but" part comes from not wanting to encourage some ladies who can come close to commercial spammers. Thankfully .. there isn't much of that. But if I haven't seen the lady .. it may be because I don't intend to see the lady and such invitations really don't help and won't alter things.

Then .. there's some middle ground .. someone with home I've exchanged PMs .. may drop a line now and then, encouraging me to get off the couch. Get back in touch with them. I think that's fine. I'm a member of the hobby community and so are they ... so it's cool. Especially if their message is charming, witty, etc.

During the booking and planning process ... the lady who puts thought into the communications .. damn ... I can get a major hobby crush on her as she builds the anticipation ... but that's different from the kind of 'out of the blue' message you mention.

Actually, it came up in the course of PMing about something else. It is someone I have seen and whose company I have enjoyed greatly.

I suppose it does depend on the circumstances. If it had come from out of the blue from someone I'd never seen, or even talked, e-mailed, or PMed before; or from someone I didn't think I'd have a good time with, I probably wouldn't have felt as I do. (OTOH, an unsolicited message from, say Cameron ... well, that would be another matter . )

And if such messages were arriving weekly, or if they appeared to be sent to numerous others simultaneously, I doubt I'd get annoyed, but I wouldn't necessarily move her to the top of my list.

It's the combination of the content, the context, the nature of the communications that preceded it, the fact that she's a great partner and a nice person, and the fact that I'm pretty sure she's not begging for business.

Now, that's how a lady should act! Kuddos to her and I'm glad she was able to brighten you day!

This is true! And if the lady takes just a little bit of time to chat, I'm happy as well. I don't like it when everything is all business all the time. Sometimes just a simple "how have you been lately?" goes a long way with guys. I guess no one likes it when another is short with them.

I've always thought it was very nice when a provider waited till I left and hit me with a text, saying thank you and I'll look forward to seeing you again! Very nice touch!
