Actually, it came up in the course of PMing about something else. It is someone I have seen and whose company I have enjoyed greatly.
I suppose it does depend on the circumstances. If it had come from out of the blue from someone I'd never seen, or even talked, e-mailed, or PMed before; or from someone I didn't think I'd have a good time with, I probably wouldn't have felt as I do. (OTOH, an unsolicited message from, say Cameron ... well, that would be another matter
. )
And if such messages were arriving weekly, or if they appeared to be sent to numerous others simultaneously, I doubt I'd get annoyed, but I wouldn't necessarily move her to the top of my list.
It's the combination of the content, the context, the nature of the communications that preceded it, the fact that she's a great partner and a nice person, and the fact that I'm pretty sure she's not begging for business.
