If everyone does it, why is it illegal?
I caught a story on NPR last week, about prostitution, and an organization cooperating with police on sting operations around the nation. What I found interesting was one statement: that Johns represent a slice of every American pie. There were rich, poor, old, young, and every vocation you could imagine, including cops, clergy, and elected officials. To me, if everyone in society is doing something, then shouldn’t it be OK to do? Isn’t the ubiquitous practice across the socioeconomic spectrum be definition of Normal?
Anyone have any idea how often women pay for sex?

Because a certain part of society still believes in legislating morality and there are the misconceptions about p4p with those thing that all men and women providers are forced into the hobby along with health risks.
Many are hypocrites about these types of subjects and not much will change on it until there is a more open-minded generation.

Well said.
The conservative Thumpers want to legislate everyone else's morals and are therefore against it.
The liberal Wackos refuse to believe anyone could possibly do this voluntarily, so they are against it too.
Pathetic, really.

Murderers also traverse all sections of social strata -- are you suggesting decriminalizing this activity too?

So do drunk drivers. I get the logic flaw, unfortunately.

There's a huge difference between the hobby and the taking of someone's life. Not mutually exclusive

A lot of society look at it as a gateway crime.... Johns commit fraud and/or steal from employers to gather the funds to pay whores.....They destroy their families draining savings at times....
Whores commit other crimes to support feeding the monkey that drove them to prostitute themselves....
I don't think the problem lies in those that choose to not decriminalize it.... The problem really lies with those that ignore what it is that drives the whore to turn tricks and choose to glamorize it....

Just that anyone equating hobby as trafficking is logically flawed.

I didn't equate "hobby as trafficking." I also didn't equate hobby as murdering.
It really wasn't a hard post to understand.
