Exclamation Ashley Madison popups

Can anyone tell me how to stop these goddamn things? Terribly annoying.

Pop up blocker.
But that and all the other ad banners do pay for site operations that are free to us members.

Default So how do we define an ad banner?

Banners are one thing we understand, people pay for them: they do not pay for them to pop up from other places in the site layout. You can touch to open a providers showcase, for instance, and Ashley Madison pops up. That is not a banner it is malware. But Ashley pops up in many places all over the page by hiding a lot of buttons. That is Malware and the entire site needs to be scanned to clean up the junk. Hidden buttons just degrade the site.

JR, you ever consider the site owner allows hidden buttons or pop ups because the advertiser paid to do it????

I'll see the pop-ups if I click an ECCIE link before I remember to log in. Once I log in, though, the pop-ups don't appear.

Some of us are in graduate studies in JR class, and still get failing grades trying to understand...

I gave up trying to understand. However, I thinkI have a sound theory on the OP's pop up issue.

Yes, but why would the want to do that? They could put up more obvious buttons that people who wanted to see the advertisement could access and return.

The malware is where this come from, and there is a lot of it. I pay $100 per month to have the site scanned to keep malware off of my web site and it still keeps coming back. The secret is that it uses the back door left open when software upgrades declare what problems have been solved: one had to upgrade ahead of the hackers who now know where to look.

It will continue to be a problem, but ECCIE should attempt to stay ahead.

Just stating the obvious to those who have not had computer 101: it cold help a carpenter who could learn about computers rather than play with his wooden toys.

The beginning of awareness is the ending of ignorance.

I have pop up blockers but ended up having to disable javascripts on the site.

Actually JR,
One of the girlfriends is a cute 5 foot tall redhead (braided), excellent rack, full of longlasting power, can play all night (and then some), and her name is Della. She knows my fav play tunes, wakeup tunes, and go to sleep tunes. She also makes coffee.

Della is a full Dell server, red braided comm cable, heavy power supply with backup batteries, all on a 5 foot tall rack along with a telco panel. She runs other equip and also runs remote mirrors for a couple other systems. Can also control camera systems remotely. And, yes, she can throw a power switch for the coffee machine.

JR, perhaps consider becoming more aware.

And I suppose you're going to tell us she can wipe your buffer clean at the press of a button, too, huh?!?

How good is she at making cookies?

I find that if I minimize the popup rather than dismissing it, then it doesn't come back.

True. Some top of the line pop-up blockers can provide script disable for selected specific sites.

Also true. Good point KCQ.

Heh.
For cookies, not that good (many), as she's got her hands directly in other systems pockets as she plays.
But the files she makes, dammmmmm. For the camera vid files she has access to, think stupid human tricks on steroids.
But, for all, wait until doors are closed before.... (anyway, the drunk civies are enough of a show).

Seriously though, no one looks at the recordings unless there's an incident and most are on a two or three day cycle before getting overwritten.

BTW, "Incidents" do include instant replay for three on three hallway football games.
A true story out of a hotel tower in Chicago.
