I can tell you this. His old man, John Osteen, must be rolling over in his grave. Ole John was a "fire and brimstone" tongue talking Pentecostalist who catered to the lower income crowd out in north east Houston. The house was always packed, and the offering plates full.

When he died, I suspect the accountants of the Osteen Empire got Joel aside and convinced him he needed s new business plan to reach the pocketbooks of a more diverse crowd.

He responded with this "everybody just be good little lambs and everything will be OK" pablum that certainly brings in the bucks.

He would have made a great used car salesman.
