Moderators... Website Problems???
For the past couple of days I've had problems getting eccie.net to open. I just bought a new computer and at first thought it might be the problem; settings and such. However, now without any computer setting changes, the site is opening and seems to be working ok. ((Edit: This is the third try to post this message...))
I saw these same issues before when the site was hacked or blew up or whatever happened...
Consequently, I've been vary hesitant to post reviews since that happened. Now... The site seems to be having issues and it leaves me as one that has been around these forums for quite some time now wondering if the cycle is repeating itself.
Can any of the moderators clue us in to what is going on at this time?
BTW, when the failed opening happens I get this message, "DATABASE ERROR".

I've been wondering the same thing this has been happening for me for about a month. I get either database error or have trouble uploading pics. I hope everything's okay and gets resolved!!
Xoxo

I haven't had any issues but then again my logins have been sporadic the last cpl months. I happen to be logging in on my iPad though. I haven't used my pc to login in a while. I'll check into it.

The "Database Error" is a very common error with forums powered by "vBulletin".
It is not a sign of the apocalypse.
Just means that MySQL has crashed or the forum is unable to connect to it. It can be caused by a myriad of things ... from a simple internet "glitch" to a problem with a config.php file or ... perhaps even too many users hitting at once.
I am not an expert on the error - but I get it routinely on other vBulletin powered forums that I frequent. I actually get it LESS here than on other forums.

Just to illustrate how an internet connection can fuck you ...
At home - I have no problems. Right now - I am overseas and going through a fucking satellite link to access the web. Since I got here ...
1. I have not been able to start a new thread.
2. I seem to be able to post replies in threads - but ONLY if I use the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom of the page.
3. In order to REPLY to a PM ... I really have to shut down my browser, reopen it - and then reply in the "quick reply" box.
4. 90 percent of the time I cannot use the "search this forum" feature. It just tells me to go fuck myself.
I blame all this ENTIRELY on my internet connection.

I could not log in at all for several hours yesterday, and this has been an ongoing problem for a couple of months. I tried multiple things on my own, and the advice of my cable company. Nothing.
I tried different devices too, still nothing. On my phone, I can usually surf the net anywhere, even that was useless.
In the technical questions forum, people are posting about the same issue and the fact that PM notifications to email addresses are hit or miss, mostly miss.

So validated that others are having the same issue... Is it just with the eccie website because that is the only one that I've had this issue with.
I kept waiting to see if the mod's were going to post about the issue but have seen nothing from them.

No clue what's wrong. Others have mentioned it in the Technical Questions section and no administrators have chimed in.
I've had the same issue several times over the last few days. It seems to be an issue with the home page, at least on my end. I had no problems when clicking on a bookmarked forum or provider profile, only when going to eccie.net directly.
I've asked admin if anybody knows the cause or is working on a fix.
If you can't get somewhere after logging in and you have a page bookmarked, try that and then navigate from there.

I was having the problem as well. It was hit or miss, mostly miss for me. It happens sometimes late at night and I figure they are doing some maintenance on the back end. Since the board is VBulletin, It might be that the database is getting too big or the server it's hosted on is being overtaxed.

Admin hasn't been much help.
If you experience any database issues or pic uploading problems please email websupport@eccie.net with
A) a screenshot of the database error page
B) the URL you are attempting to reach
C) the exact time
D) your time zone
They will look into it.
