I think you need to figure out what exactly he likes and why. Getting into his head is the first step. For example, some submissives that like humiliation don't necessarily like masochism. Others like feeling helpless, or used, or want to be of service... There's age play, sissyification, bondage, cages, verbal abuse, messyness, CBT, humiliation, degradation... And more specifically there's queening, pet play, enemas, forced sexual use, pegging, diapers, electric play, needles, spanking, paddles, pinching, etc... etc...

But most submissives will have a certain theme to the activities that they enjoy... if they are into bondage, caging, helplessness and verbal abuse they might still hate queening...

So find out in general what his fantasies are, and, if possible, WHY he likes them (was he verbally abused as a child? Does he like to suffer pain to prove that he is worthy? is he overworked and stressed and wants to give up control to someone else once in a while?)

There are a lot of possibilities, but you probably have to try to figure out what general area that his interests are in before you can make a list of what he might like.

Of course there is some overlap between various interests and some people have more areas of interest than others. So more than one theme of activities might appeal to him. And if he gets his pleasure from pleasing you, then you are free to do to him whatever you want as long as you assure him that your enjoying what he's doing.

I agree totally with oldrichwhiteguy. The sub needs to tell you his fantasies. Just doing any old thing is not usually effective. While turning him on, talk to him about what roleplays he fantasizes about particularly when he masturbates. If he wants to be a sub, he has to have sub fantasies or he is just plain dull. I personally have lots of sub fantasies as well as lots of dom fantasies and can talk about them at length with a provider. I am sure all the guys on here are the same.
