Default Chase Bank Has Decided To Tell Me What I Can And Can't Do With My Money

Most of you know that I also advertise on Back Page. I have used it for years without any problems until today. I tried to post an ad and my card was declined. I reentered the information and again, declined. I checked my balance and called the bank. The person I spoke to at Chase told me that Chase has no dealings with BackPage and won't honor any charge with Back Page, no matter if it's an escort ad or if you're selling a motorcycle.

I'm posting this in Co-Ed because many providers don't have access to the powder room. I can see how Chase is tired of BP charging 2, 3 and 4 times for one ad and dealing with people contesting those charges. (I'm at the bank about once every 6 weeks disputing something.) And without fail, every time I context a charge, it's refunded. I'm sure there are other reasons but refusing to honor every charge from a site seems drastic.

Discuss.

They must have lost their merchant account. Not uncommon, if a merchant has a large number of clients that claim fraud and the bank ends up having to honor it... they usually will drop the merchant account. It's the bank choice, they don't trust the merchant is being diligent to avoid fraud.

It's really the merchant's fault.

This is more common than you think.

I suspect Luke is probably right about the merchant issue. I checked and see others talking about it nationally.

You will need to ask Backpage which cards are still valid and accessible for their payments. I imagine this is a national issue, so they have to deal with it fairly quickly.

Dharma,

I don't see why you would even use a bank account with your real name and real life information behind it. You should go get a throw away card like a vanilla card. They are simple, easy, and work with BP.

I use a vanilla card not a card linked with my personal info. U can load it up with the amount of advertising $ you think you will spend on it for a week or month of use so you dont have to keep buying them frequently.

For the massage ladies that run legitimate business via BP, records might need to be kept that can be traced for tax or other reasons. This is where an issue with credit card processing/banking might cause a problem for business.

Dharma knows her shit, and if she wanted to use vanillavisa.. I am sure she would.

Back Page will give up your info if LE requests it. Please use Vanilla Visa.

Seems more and more banks want to have their say... On my last couple of sc outings I have had to talk with (verify who I am, where I was at, and what kind of place I was at) BOA reps. First time was a little embarrassing, 2nd time was more annoying, 3rd time was very blunt and honestly more fun but still a pain.

did you tell them you were in the VIP part of the strip club having the L1, L2 and L3 time of your life and that should come join you and loosen their tight asses a bit ? :^)

seriously, it's all numbers and business to the banks.
apparently, chase just got tired of spending money dealing w/ all the disputes submitted by customers about BP's behavior.
ironic since they are willing to give away money when you obtain and use some of their credit cards or open certain kinds of savings accts.

sometimes you just have to play their game cos they have all the coins.

What is there to discuss?

Most problems/decisions in Life or Business come down to 'Fix it or Change it'.
If you feel it's fixable and or worth fixing, well, don't delay, FIX THE DAMN THING. If you feel the situation is not worth fixing, then, don't delay, CHANGE THE DAMN THING.

Good luck if you think you can change CHASE BANK, my guess is they have better lawyers than you have and you signed a legal contract allowing them to handle your money by their guidelines, not yours.

So this pretty much leaves the CHANGING it scenario of 1) Switching banks or 2) Paying with another form of payment

Sorry for discussing something that is a no-brainer.

Just curious, how much does it cost to post ad on BP?

Chase is doing the right thing.

If a merchant is constantly having problems with fraud and giving rebates back to dissatisfied customers, then that merchant is doing something wrong.

Perhaps the merchant doesn't have enough security on its website or its e-mail system and customers are getting hacked all the time. Perhaps the merchant is a shady business that constantly hammers clients with hidden charges or charges that were unclear or not authorized.

No matter. It is the merchant's fault not Chase's fault.

The right thing to do is to cut the merchant off. The merchant will react by fixing its security or by operating more honestly, which is a good thing. Alternatively, the merchant will not change and will go out of business. Which also is a good thing.

@~ZE~ You have NOT lost your muchness

I understand the business aspects of refusing to deal with a business that causes so many headaches. I also understand the it's not just BR or massage that's affected. I don't know about the escort section because I'm not an escort so I don't post there. But the rep I spoke to said it's the entire Business, sales, charitable causes, raffle notifications, any ad which has a charge attached to it, will be denied.

As I stated when I posted this thread, I would have left it in the PR but many ladies don't have access there and wouldn't have been made aware otherwise. Thank you everyone for your comments.

Chase is one of those bancks too big to fail. Chase is regulating how ladies sell their wares. The next thing you know Chase will not honor taint.
