I thought 3rd year RB, Rod Smith, played well...ran hard (but still needs work on pass protection IMO). At 6' 3'' 240, he's an above-average sized running back and might be a more than capable backup to Zeke. Curious to see if Dallas keeps 4 RB's come final cut. Also...he's another product of Urban Meyers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Jumbo basketball player-turned-TE, Rico Gathers, impressed, as well. Too soon to tell (but) a couple of his catches (in addition to Run After Catch) showed great athleticism. At 6' 8'' 291(average speed/quickness for a man that size) Rico could be a huge weapon in the Red Zone. Stay tuned.
This much we do know: neither team's starting lineups (or game plans) will look anything like last night's game when they see one another again on Monday Night Football (in AZ on Sept 25).
Considering Dallas begins the season with contests vs the NY Giants and (at) the Denver Broncos, game three vs the Cardinals could very much be a "must win" game for Da Boys should they slip up & come out of the blocks slow.
(Above: TE Rico Gathers hauling in a 26 yard TD pass. The former Baylor Bear rebounding champion could be a problem for opposing defenses in the Red Zone).
