It's difficult for me to set things up in MTL. I'm from the States and when I travel there my cell has no service not data. I turn them off for discretionary purposes as well as cost for roaming. My backup phone is much more limited (burner, flip phone).

I have visited Montreal Hot spa a few times. But on my last trip, the Open sign was on, but door was locked. I was not comfortable ringing and waiting. And without a phone to call, I resided to move along.

I have been thinking about getting a Canadian backup, pre paid, burner phone for just such occoasions.

Any suggestions? I am looking for anonymous, pre paid, cash.

The results in that search were a few years old.

I would up getting one last week on my trip. It was a telus service, LG smartphone from walmart. And setting up the phone was a pain in the ass.I had to access wifi from a store and activate that way. But at least that is out of the way, and I can start using it as a discreet 2nd phone.
