I was told I have Asperger's back in 2003 (this was when they still differentiated between Asperger's and more serious degrees of autism)
I got the diagnosis from a psychiatrist at a mental hospital. When I was first admitted to the mental hospital, the psychiatrist said I exhibited possible signs of Asperger's, yet she was going to examine me some more before making a definite diagnosis (and by the end of my visit, she had made her conclusion)
Only including the backstory to illustrate a point: Even though some might have been misdiagnosed, I don't think my case was a misdiagnosis. It's not like she rushed into giving the diagnosis. Plus, this happened before the era where medical professionals began overdiagnosing.
Utilizing sex workers has become a permanent thing for me. In the past decade, I've only had sex I didn't pay for once.
