Default I've wanted to visit St. Louis for a very long time. Now, if I do visit, I HAVE to see this!!! Just glorious!!!

Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis.

http://cathedralstl.org/parish/online-tour/transept

Wow. I found this cathedral while doing some online reading and I'm just blown away by the absolute beauty and the magnificence of this church.

If I ever travel to Saint Louis, I would love to see this place.

Side note: I'm not Catholic but I have a respect for the religion. I was raised in a predominately Catholic neighborhood and so I'm used to the weddings and masses, etc. And I LOVE to look at historical cathedrals when able.

I don't believe that Dallas has anything this magnificent.

Best,
Elisabeth

It is an amazing place. My niece told some co-workers and they drove down from Chicago just to see it and turned around and went back.

If you come to visit, you should also see the "Old" Cathedral downtown. The original one.

Thanks. The pictures of St. Francis de Sales just look wonderful.

I haven't been to St. Louis since I was 18 and helped a best friend from high school move there to attend George Washington University, if I remember the name right.

It was in St. Louis that I went to my VERY first super fancy restaurant. I wish that I could remember the name but it was so long ago.

I remember there was a water boy (I'm being politically incorrect. Sue me!) there JUST to pour water. And there were so many different servers, including a first time experience with a Sommelier. Lots of crystal glasses, fancy eating utensils and well, the experience has always stayed with me for all of these years.

For someone with a modest middle class (think nuclear family, when there was such a thing) upbringing, it was so cool at the time.

Anyway, because of that experience, I've always had a fondness for St. Louis. Even your universities are lovely!

Maybe I need a history lesson about your city!

Always,
Elisabeth

Does it seem strange to anyone else that a provider thread is talking about churches? Anyway, Elisabeth, I think you meant Washington University and the restaurant you described sounds a lot like Tony's. At least that was what it was like the one time I was there years ago.

It's Washington University. GW is in Washington, D.C.

This might sound surprising but most sex workers have a strong spiritual side. Look at the historical account of midwives, healers, and others such as myself and you will find that often, women who are outside of the mainstreams of society provide something more than many others can.

Oh ... and with religion? I think that Pope Francis (who I adore and admire from afar) would be very supportive of someone like me wanting to visit such glorious places that praise the God of someone's choosing.

Anyway, I understand what you're saying. I do. However, I don't believe that spirituality and sexuality (and paying for it, too) are mutually exclusive.

Hugs and kisses. Oh, and it could have been called Tony's. It's been 30 years or so. My memory is faulty!

That's right. She used to call it WU. I knew that I probably typed it wrong.

Have a happy weekend, everyone!

I don't find it strange at all. Just as I'm not surprised someone here has your attitude about it.

Actually, I don't have an attitude about it at all. Just some musings. If you notice, I gave a completely serious reply that Elisabeth may also be interested in the Old Cathedral as well as the "New" Cathedral.

I didn't see an attitude, either, since I did think the same thing. There was a little nagging voice in the back of my head telling me that posting about a cathedral, no matter the reason, might raise a few eyebrows.

And I appreciate Jannisary being so supportive, but it's cool.

Thanks for the other recommendation!

I will add that I've had some friends and acquaintances in this "hobby", mostly female, that feel what they're doing is evil and wrong. Philosophical and social mores aside, I've always felt that someone needs to be at peace or at least, justify what they're doing in order to just sleep at night.

Anyway, I don't mind a thread drift when it's my thread or in Another Realm, where pretty much anything goes.

There have been a few PM's sent to me about St. Louis and I haven't responded to them all, yet. My apologies for being a bit slow this weekend. That isn't an excuse to not answer PM's, especially the sweet ones that I've received.

I'll get to them today, though.

Happy Easter everyone!!!

No, I haven't.

I've wanted to visit a handful of places but last month, I got a new incall (after being in my old place for almost 8 years) and it's been an adjustment. Plus, it's Spring and I'm staying busy with my friends here in Dallas.

I'm thinking of going there. If nothing else there are a couple of people that I would like to visit with (non-clients and even a few people for Platonic drinks while in town! )

So it's in the back of my mind. Possibly in the summer. Plans are still brewing.

I just read another article about St. Louis last week. So something, or someone, must be beckoning me in that direction!

Hey Dallas, have you been to the city museum? If you have a lot of little kid in you, it's a great place. My daughters (28 and 24) loved it.
