Oh yes, king cake sounds fabulous!

In addition to the tasty king cakes and beignets, I also love étouffée and poboys! Any suggestions there would be appreciated, as well.

Louisiana is great for inspiring cravings, isn't it?

There's a place called Kim's. At Texas and Benton in bossier. Asian shop that relocated from NO after Katrina. They have seafood and Po boys. Our selection in Shreveport is limited as far as New Orleans favorites. I would also suggest crawdaddys and Ralph kacoos for Cajun favorites. Tubbs hardware also has king cakes. Julie Anne's is going to be your best bet although they are some what pricey.

Aww, me too! We will definitely have come back down to visit when it's warmer. Then we can indulge in all of our cravings that can only be satisfied in Louisiana. I can't believe that you have never had king cake! It's amazing.

Unfortunately, today my warm, cozy bed won out over the local fare... I'm all snuggled up and I just ordered a pizza.

Southern Maid Doughnuts on 70th Street near Fern behind Rotollo's makes a very good king cake...especially if you're a fan of their doughnuts!
