I'm planning a trip to St Louis to visit family and would like to get out and have a drink or two. Can someone recommend some nice bars?

What kind of atmosphere are you looking for? Like any big city, St. Louis has tons of bars. Do you want quiet? Live music? Irish pub? German beer garden? Upscale? Neighborhood corner bar?

If that doesn't work your not to far from Washington Ave.

You might want to take a look at Esquire:

Esquire declares St. Louis its 'Bar City of the Year'

The story lists a few STL bars that helped STL earn that distinction.

For "upscale", I would recommend
* Three-sixty (360) in Hilton Downtown http://www.360-stl.com
* Eclipse in Moonrise hotel - great rooftop bar as well www.eclipsestlouis.com
* Fox and Hound in Cheshire www.cheshirestl.com
* Cielo at Four Seasons www.cielostlouis.com


Not necessarily "upscale", but they are VERY NICE and are my favorites

Good story, but the writers did NOT visit a single bar in Soulard.....(maybe a future story in itself) My favorites from the story are Milo's and the Royale...
