I can remember back in the early 90's i was in reno nevada and a provider told me to look up ASPD when i got back home...it was like finding a pot of gold...never knew such a thing existed..
thanks to everyone at aspd for starting it up and the wonderful way it corrupted my life.

I always saw this fourm but never read this until today. I was around for the ASPD days (rsnbledoubt). Amber was the first Indy I ever saw. I'm not sure how I found her, but I someone told me spoke incredible french. Being the young, ignorant buck I was, I asked her one day on the SW side of town (as she had her lips wrapped around my member) to speak french to me. She look up at me, cocked an eyebrow (her lips never let go), mumbled a "hmmmmm," and I asked again. "I hear you speak incredible french, that would be so hot." She busted out laughing. I had no idea why. She explained it to me and I'm sure I was a deep shade of red from the embarrassment. I was trying to be suave and sensual. I was such a noob. This was in '97 or '98.
She told me about aspd - I got signed up and it was a great ride. I never did make it to a social out of rear of running into someone I knew in the real world. "Hey Dad, what brings you here?" but I saw Amber several times until she retired and moved out of Houston.
Those aspd days were great. You could drive 10 miles from just about anywhere in town and find one of the many, many escape spas. John's Amazing agency was killer. Piper was at the westside spa. A redheaded mustang sally took Houston by storm and you could always count on Big Louie to drop a very detailed session description that was full of kink onto the board. Yes, those were the good, ole days.
Amber was a sweetheart, but the best thing she ever did for me personally was to bring her neighbor into the hobby for a short while. That girl's name was Allison, and to this day, she remains my all time favorite provider, despite the fact that she was only here for a short, short time.

I had awful bad luck when I first started to hobby. What changed was, I saw Trysh in her ad in the T.A.G. magazine mention that she was well reviewed in ASPD online. I looked up ASPD, saw the reviews then looked her up, had a great session and have been hobbying and reviewing ever since.

History books are always written by the winners and often overlook some of the tactics used to succeed.
Somewhere floating around should be a more complete history that includes such tidbits like when Delphi re-surfaced, Amber was the one who reported them in order to get it removed again.
Or the massive fight between Amber and Amanda over control of ASPD. Not sure of the details but some of the folks who were around and pretty directly should know or be able to point to the other posts about the events.
Amber died in December 2009. Much speculation about why that doesn't need dragged into this thread.
Before and throughout much of 2009, ASPD had been struggling with massive outages. Those led to one of the Admins, CK1492, creating his own site as an alleged "backup only" site to give people a place to exchange information during ASPD downtimes.
Another Admin, St Chris, the senior owner here, had seen the handwriting on the wall about how Amber was apparently not able or willing to give the members a more robust site with features that had become common in the Vbulletin world. So ECCIE was created and kept small as it was being fleshed out and the coding was worked out.
Then Amber passed and CK1492's Christmas party of 2009 was infiltrated by cops and around a dozen people got perp-walked. One provider got deported as a result of that bust.
During what was planned to be a transition of ownership of ASPD to her parents, some unknown person or persons informed Amber's dad (maybe step-dad) employer that he was involved in running an adult site devoted to an illegal activity and so FieryJade That resulted in some very nasty posts from FieryJade with her stated intention of closing the site.
Because there was no one really in control of the entire ASPD site, the other new boards such as ECCIE, Home2, and Horndogs were all posting invitations to come join up. ECCIE ended up becaming the clear winner and new members here were asked to bring over their reviews and were given Premium Access credit for most of them.
Much of that success was due to things such as the similarity in formats and ease of transition. ASPD Admins all had access to the user database of handles and associated email addresses so it was easier to resolve issues of handle theft when needed.
Another ECCIE policy in place before ASPD folded was the initial "clean slate" decree.
If you had "issues" on ASPD, once you joined ECCIE, if you behaved, you did get a fresh start. Some did great, others not so much.
ECCIE continued to improve on the basic ASPD model and things like the review tab, and showcases have been important to their continued growth.
