Crown is a bad whiskey. I like most any Good Scotch. if it starts with a Glen, that's probably a good start. I like Irish too. Tullamore Dew.

I don't know if its considered good or not..lol but I like Hennessy. I know its not a whiskey, but thought I'd chime in I have an odd palate I guess, I use to drink beer and my fave was Bud Ice, even after tasting much much more expensive ones..lol It was heavier than a light beer but lighter than a regular

I recommend 2:

TAMDU currently in stock at Spec's is very smooth and a little sweet since 100% matured in Sherry cask rather than bourbon. A 10 year offering but very nice.

Nikki Taketsuru is a Japanese 12 year single malt that is awesome. At $53 it matches my $80-$100 scotches in quality. Very fine. Available at Specs and Twin Liquors.

I bartended almost 13years. When it come to scotch. It depends on the person taste. Aged doesn't always mean better. A true scotch drinker orders his scotch 2ways. Straight up or on the rocks. When ready for another you always use the same glass and ice. Most popular scotch ordered also varies depending on "group" internationals (fresas) tend to favor .buchanans.
Younger crowd 24-30ish favor Jamesons (which is my favorite)
Older drinkers favor glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Johnny walker (black or blue label
Ladies seem to prefer dewars

Buchanans is a mexican thing. Johnny walker black label with topo Chico is the tits also lol but yea scotch is the way to go. And I don't really agree that "frecas" drink buchanans. Buchanans is popular in mexico by all crowds in mexico rich or poor.

Wild turkey and lemonade. I used to drink a lot of them at J and R,s. With R.L. Before he wore diffrent colored shoes. In the oct 2012 Bar Buusiness magazine there is a article on a bar in new york called The Flatiron over 500 kinds of whiskey on premise .

Interesting how many folks have mentioned Jamesons.
It has a permanet spot on the edge of the bar (not the cabinet rack) . That and JW Black date back to college days.

Yes, Jameson 12 is good but why not learn about single still pot Irish whiskys, such as Redbreast 12. At the same money$40, it is a far better value and the flavor is much better vs the well marketed Jameson. The rating on Jamison 12 is in the 87, Redbreast 12 is 93 according to charts below. The redbreast is a well kept secret as most do not know about single pot Irish whiskys.

My favorite is Redbreast 15/92 proof $70, and Redbreast12 cask strength/115proof is $75
Both the 15 and the cask have not been cold filtered to remove fat that causes cloudiness in 80 proof whiskeys making their flavor far more rich IMHO. The reviewers agree agree with me giving the 12 Year cask strength a 96 rating and the 15 a 92 since it has a silkier texture, more punch, with it's bolder flavors, it just isn't as balanced and the nose seems a little bright for a 15 year old strong Irish, but I like it. Served neat with (1) spring water ice cube, removing it when it clouds, makes this irish stand out. IMHO

Here is a link to a pdf that has the whiskey menu for The Brandy Library in NYC.

Now where did that cigar cutter get off to?

Excellent presentation. This, Angel's thoughts and a several others were what I was hoping for. Alas, several of the bottles I have handy were gifts, or originated with requests ftom certain friends. Thus, limited space for new additions but will be considered when an empty spot occurs in the whisky rack.

I must say some very interesting selections . And i will try the ones i havent . But i would like to add that although a bourbon Jim Beam has the best bottles .There collector series of bottles make even the best tasting of whiskey look tame. Just kidding . although i have at least 100 of the different bottles from jim beam over the years bottles are for looking at not drinking . Take care .
