Summer time favorites
What is your favorite thing about summer time?
I like being able to sleep in, and not having homework.

When I was little, what I liked best was all the great food: you didn't have to cook as much in a hot kitchen either b/c of all the veggies:
tomatoes, peppers, butterbeans, snap-beans, corn on the cob, plus fresh peaches--many a night my Mom just made that & I was happy. Plus fried soft-shell crabs. Plus as a child I was not a good student--I did well, but I hated school so summer was GREAT as far as I was concerned.
... and of course the pool & the drive-in & sitting on the porch being able to read until 9:00 & lightning bugs &...

As a grown up, i HATE the summer, i work outdoors everyday,cant take off enough clothes to stay cool. As a child it was so wonderful, no school,riding horses everyday, fishing, picking veggies out garden then eating, no worries. Grew up on farm, able to make money in summer,driving tractors,throwing hay and such, best of times.

As a child, I grew up on a tobacco farm. I would ride on the back of the tractor while the machine placed the new plants in the ground. Then as they grew, I would pick the flowers off the tops and suck the nectar out of them.
My parents would throw HUGE parties and lots of people would be around, with kids my age. We had chickens and I had a Shetland pony, the kids would go chicken chasing and catch fireflies, my father had a rotisserie grill, it was fun!

Summers were special during adolescence for me...fishing with my daddy and on Sundays we would always go grab a pizza and a banana split at the local parlor. Adulthood, I travel during summers.
