Other than JD? Wait.. you mean there's a bourbon whiskey OTHER than JD? When did that happen? If I'm drinking Tennessee bourbon, or what we called there "Sipping stuff", JD was it.

Now, if we are talking other spirits, like Vodka, I have to say Tito's Handmade Vodka that Dallas Rain turned me on to is top notch. But for bourbon.. JD hands down.

Every time I hear someone order a "Jack and Coke", I cringe, and think to myself, "Another perfectly good soda, ruined."

Templeton Rye, on the other hand, is some fine stuff.

In the '80's I drank a lot of Wild Turkey and WL Weller. Don't hear about Weller anymore, don't drink Whiskey anymore either.

Try Fort Worth's own TX brand

I was surprised at how gall darn good it is.
Would be a little light and sweet for some drinkers.

But it is smooth smooth and I swear they must use a little
caramel or something in there.

It has won several awards also.
They say you can visit the factory in Ft Worth,
they may do tours or something.

For Scotch....value for the money I'd have to say Oban 14 year.
Angel:
Rimfire took a bronze at the March 2014 American Craft Distillers Association Annual Convention that I mentioned above. The 2015 convention is in Austin and I'm considering a road trip, as a friend is relocating there from KC. And, you get the stump the whisky guy award, as I had to look up Oban.

I always pick up a bottle of something when on a road trip, that I just got back from on Thurs. And ignoring that most anything can be ordered through a decent liquor store, I detoured through a cute town in Iowa while on an Omaha trip and picked one up. Cause that's a key part of remembering the fun from every trip. There's only one gal, in Houston, that knows what the other bottle of Rye is.
