This is a topic friends & I discuss a lot. As a child AA girls didn't like me because I spoke "white" & had long hair, & the White girls didn't like me because I was "fake," so of course the Hispanic girls were my people! Lol.

Well my father is Haitian French & Portuguese, fair skinned with brownish red super curly hair & a few freckles.

My mother is African American/Spanish, dark-skinned with curly dark hair. I have caramel deep skin with my fathers features & mothers hair (even though i usually wear it straight)

So, by definition, im pretty mixed lol. While it might sound like overkill, you must take into consideration everyones perents are not Black or White.

I think the term has definitely been watered down, but it's not always a ploy. Do I ALWAYS advertise my ethnicity? No. But when it comes to choice is between African American or Other/Mixed, i prefer the latter b/c at the end of the day, I am very proud of my heritage/background & will not to minimize it because others abuse the term.

I have actually mentioned my ethnic make up(black, french and cherokee indian) in the past because I am asked about it all the time. You may not be interested in it, but some guys out there are.
