Let me post before my 3rd Black Friday trip for the day.
(Then I'm wondering should I be using the term handicap or disabled? I'll google that later...)
Everyone keeps mentioning wheelchairs but that was not the situation I was presented with (or the provider who decided not to see the client).
*Lets say a client is looking for a provider who does outcalls and he informs you that he is not in a wheelchair, but has had a stroke. He can walk with the help of a cane and has no difficulty in getting in and out of bed but prefers to use his Hoveround to get around his home. He is not elderly, age 48. He has a live in caregiver and asks would you be comfortable knowing that another person was in the residence at the time of the session.*
The only question I asked was what color was his caregiver. All black caregivers/sitters/nurses who do homecare in my city know each other and gossip so I wanted to be sure discretion could be maintained.

But back to wheelchairs and such. I only do outcalls anyway so I have no problem with seeing a disabled client. Most people who have lived with their disability for years know how to move in and out of bed. I've worked as a caregiver in the past so should they need assistance (
and not weigh 300lbs) I would know how to manuver them without throwing out my back or dropping them on the floor.
I notice that the Ireland hobby site has an option for providers to check if they are disabled friendly.
