The letter at the end of the name references the projected retirement date. This allows the hobbyist to plan accordingly. So, for an "N" provider you've got all of 2014; plenty of time to save up, get that prescription filled or figure out how that pump you purchased for your birthday works. However, if it's an "M" provider, giddyap, big boy; you've got less than 2 months.
This eliminates the ridicule from some mean posters (you know who you are) that traditional provider retirement notices seem to generate.
