Question HELLPPP

Hello everyone,

I am not sure which category this should be posted in but......

I am coming to visit Birmingham later this month. With it being my first trip I am seeking advice as where to stay.

I have found the Hotel Highland Downtown which is on 20th Street S in Birmingham, a hotel on Summit St in Bham.. or should I stay on the outskirts such as a town called Pelham AL? Or there are Hilton Hotels on Bham/Fultondale (I65) or I65/Lakeshore Drive??? Any particular streets to stay on/around or ones to avoid?

Any advice would be great. Somewhere for clients that are easy to get to so they aren't having to drive forever and a day to come visit. But I don't want to be in sketchy part of town either!!

HEELLLPPPP & Thank you in advance.

I use to go to bham often and stayed in Pelham. I liked the quiet area and ease on n off the interstate. It seems to be less than safe there now.

Higher end shopping and dining seems to be the 280 area. Cahaba to Inverness. I have never stayed downtown and honestly not sure I would even consider it. I will be in the 280 area tomorrow and can happily snap a few photos of local places you can check out.

Let me know if I can help from a distance...
Good Luck n safe travels...

I too would recommend the 280 area, east of The Summit. Lots of hotel and restaurants. Traffic during rush hour is not great, but probably better than Hoover and south on I 65.

FYI, Hoover sporadically has Uncle Leo issues, and they are about due for another round. That and it being an election year, somebody is going to want to prove they are cleaning up the city.

The 280 east area is much safer than any other area's in Birmingham.

Also stay away from the Homewood area (Lakeshore Drive / Oxmore Road)...

As Woodford indicated, the hotels in the Hoover Area are on the look out for activity and have reported to the local police.

Good Luck in Birmingham!
