If a facebook account dos not look that it be part of the hobby, then is posting about that account ok. I would think not and would be outing per guidelines of this board.

edit add: there are fools on eccie that would post to that facebook. Now add all the lurkers eccie would have no control of. Fuck I should have RTM'ed it at my 2nd post rather than waiting till latter.

Just saying someone has a FB account is NOT outing. Its probably safe to say that most of us have one. Now if an actual link gets posted, then we would deal with that depending on what it was.

In the meantime, thanks Lexxy for contacting her and at least try to warn/coach her about keeping real life and hobby life separated. I know most ladies take to that type of thing so well, but I hope she listens. But seriously, there is only so much we can do to protect people if they don't know, or take, the appropriate precautions themselves. These forums are chock full of examples of that on both sides.

So guessing its not outing per CC. I'm not saying it was wrong to check if you have FB.
But it don't seem right somehow to posting someone has a FB with the thinking
most are not to be part of the hobby. But part of real world only. Link or not it is to easy find unless she has the FB settings so it would not be easy to find so simply.

I will thank you CC for posting in the welcome threAD and this thread. Even I disagree a bit on this.

Part of what I have done for hookers is endless searching to make sure real and hobby do not mix. Like cell carrier posting phone numbers of there customers real name like a phone book with address. One cell company did that a lot. They will take it off if you ask. But they do not ask if that is ok when buying. And a cash and carry out min cell can get costly for a gal buying min cards over a not listed contract cell.
edit add: A hobby min. cell works great for hobbyist. Not so much for providers that gets lots of text and calls.

yes and BY MY VERY POSTS I state I should have STFU sooner and RTM'ed sooner myself. But IMHO posting that someone has a FB that clearly someone has not set the settings to keep it from being so easily found yet is wrong.

As in the past some members and lurkers of this board have posted to a FB on hobby stuff for family and friends to see. Then asking ahhh WTF is this shit on your FB.

SO what great length has everyone go to here to protect the anonymity? I'm looking at you Steve. Just because you can find something does not mean you need to bring it to the site. The only reason we have not had a private conversation, to this point, is that there has not been an actual link posted. Of course if that FB profile is linked to her hobby persona this this all moot, as lots of ladies (stupidly) maintain a hobby FB account.

And of course, OSD now making such a public spectacle of this whole thing, to the point of starting an entire new thread about it, certainly does draw an even more increased awareness. Great discretion there, and going to great lengths to protect other members from possible issues. Perhaps a private communication with the lady in question would have been a better approach? i.e, the STFU mantra that YOU stated when starting a new thread; and doing exactly the opposite. Sigh....

I started this thread in hope the posts in the first thread would be deleted. As then linking back would not be and one would get the you can not see that post page.

as one would get if someone gave the url for a ML thread in the open. But one that does not have PA to see it will get that its a dead end page. You can not go there.

I'm not on facebook but have read the rules/terms of use for it. If it looks to used for something not ok by FB account can be deleted. And hobby is not listed but if you read the terms of FB, hobby is a no no.
So I would think account is not for this game.

Or you thinking it ok as she did a ops move?
